Reeves-Bullock Film to Help Illinois Lake
Durant Democrat: "Environmentalists are giving the green light to a new Warner Bros. project that involves restoring a popular lake at a Cook County forest preserve.
Many scenes for the romantic drama 'Il Mare,' starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, will be filmed at a glass-sided house built by Warner Bros. near Maple Lake, about 15 miles southwest of Chicago.
In addition to a $100,000 shooting fee, Warner Bros. Pictures agreed to pay for much of the $40,000 needed to stabilize the shoreline and pay for new wetland plantings that the Cook County Forest Preserve District already had planned.
'Everybody at the table said this is a cool project,' said Doug Chien of the Sierra Club, referring to a meeting to inform several environmental groups.
Filming began last week and affects 300 feet of the lake's shoreline. The rest of the manmade lake remains open to anglers."

Mo' money, less problems for Keanu
San Francisco Examiner: Columnists: "'Constantine' star Keanu Reeves told Handbag.com that he's still learning to make peace with his own stardom. 'The money that goes with it and everything else is totally out of this world,' he said. 'I enjoy the freedom that comes with the money, but I really don't have the kind of acquisitive mentality to live a big life. My only vices are motorcycles and expensive bottles of red wine. I don't have a huge wardrobe of clothes and I don't live in a palatial house. I'm happy just to be able to travel a bit and experience the world and not worry about paying bills.'"

According to Femalefirst, the cast and the crew including director Francis Lawrence gathered in sound stage 16 at Warner Bros' Hollywood studio and had to leave it later.
'It was strange. There was this one set that we worked on that got weird. We were on Warner Bros sound stage 16, and we'd built theses two rooms, the physiotherapy and hydrotherapy rooms - they're a huge part of the ending of the movie,' Lawrence was quoted as saying.
'And one half of it, the physiotherapy side, just got weird. We were there for six weeks in this room, and people were getting sick, or didn't feel good or got angry. There was just something about that room,' he added."

Keanu's the ill-Chosen One
Camden Chronicle: "IS there anything scarier than the thought that Earth's only saviour in the war between heaven and hell is Keanu Reeves?
Well, that's the basic set-up for CONSTANTINE (15) - Hollywood's latest flirtation with comic books - the story of chain-smoking John Constantine, a sort of referee in the battle between good and evil for the souls of mankind.
But rather than handing out red cards to the demons who get out of line, Constantine simply whips out a holy machine gun and blasts them back to the underworld.
And when Los Angeles detective Angela Dobson (Rachel Weisz) begins to suspect there's a sinister secret behind her sister's apparent suicide, it's up to Constantine to step in to avert Armageddon."

Reeves hated punching Blanchett in film
KEANU REEVES - REEVES HATED PUNCHING BLANCHETT IN FILM: "KEANU REEVES was reduced to a terrified wreck prior to shooting a violent scene with his THE GIFT co-star CATE BLANCHETT, because he had to punch her in the stomach.
Reeves hesitated over how he was going to hit Blanchett without injuring her, until the brave actress ordered him to go ahead and do it.
He says, 'I had to punch Cate Blanchett in the stomach. I remember we were thinking, 'Where can my character, DONNIE, hit her? Shall I punch her in the head, shall I slap her?'
'Then the stunt guy said, 'Hit her in the stomach, in the f**king womb.' And I was like, 'Yeah, that's it, just walk up and punch her in the f**king guts.'
'And that was really hard. Really hard. Cate was saying, 'Look, just do it, hit me.' And I was like scared, you know.
'But eventually I did and it was OK. I didn't hurt her.'"
